Motown Showdown
This is a good team we are going to be facing. Detroit has a good pitching staff, they have a good offense and they are scoring some runs. Sheffield has been really hot so I'm really going to have to watch out for him. He got smoked by Cabrera, a pitcher from Baltimore, and I think that woke him up. Ever since that happened he has been absolutely tearing it up. He's a guy you always have to worry about, but when he's tearing it up like he is right now you really have to be careful.
Detroit is a fair place to pitch. They brought the fence in at left but's big to center. If you can keep the ball to center it's tough to hit home runs. It is one of the places you don't want to get beat on the pull side. What I'll try to do with the right handers is stay away from them and make them go the opposite way, especially if the game is close. You don't want the game to be decided on homers.
I will follow my normal routine tonight, just visualize their lineup and where I'm going to deliver the ball.

Thank God we have Matthews roving CF. I'm sure his defense will be tested during the series. I have complete faith in you John to make the neccessary pitches and keep their line up in check. All of our players are playing well defensively which compliments the outstanding pitching we've had. Let's hope our bats stay alive and we pressure them, playing our type of game. Here's to a successful series win and continuing our outstanding play of late! Good Luck John!

here we go!! time to step up and be the ace and continue the success we've had at home onto the road..

Good luck to you and the rest of the team on this roadtrip, Big John! Three in Detoit and three in New York, short and sweet. You start it and you end it. If there was a trip this year I could accompany the team on the road this would be it. Really looking forward to some great baseball this week!

I'm not watching your game live since I'm at work but I'm watching it on mlb.com's Gameday and the second inning was crazy. What's with Cooper the ump? Did he really squeeze you that bad? The pitches he was calling balls were mostly in the strikezone according to Gameday.

Are you OK? I just don't want you to get hurt before All-Star game.

Before the All-star break? I don't want him to get hurt at all. The Angels need Lackey. But what great defense the whole game. The play Cabrera made to end the game was a perfect ending. They had three Web Gems on Baseball Tonight.

Congrats on your 7th win of the season John! You are way ahead of last year in gaining that many wins! Great game all the way around with our bats staying alive and some great defense from GMJ, OC and Figgy! I told you yesterday that GMJ manning CF would have it's benefits in that ballpark, and, well, anywhere for that matter! He has really made some spectacular catches thus far. And what can you say about OC?! He's amazing sometimes. I know, as a pitcher, you really appreciate the team making good plays behind you. Now, let's hope Bart can win his 6th game tomorrow and assure us the series win!!! GO ANGELS!!! P.S. Is your ankle all right? I was really worried about it.

Good game I hope you're alright. Take care of those ankles.
